I looked at work by Tord Boontji - who does very intricate cut outs for lamps - was thinking we could make the broom more sophisticated by adding detail to the cut outs.   

 At the moment I really like the idea of using a lily plant instead of the original design. I think it will be strong enough to work but would make the design elegant.

Here is some research I have done today - just exploring different silhouettes for the flower designs and thinking about different ways to use a duster / broom
